At BRDC we feel that young people from the local community should be given the opportunity to be educated in vocational skills that can help to sustain them, and their families, throughout their lives. To this end, year-long courses are offered in carpentry, tailoring and masonry which are led by experienced instructors. Each student is then entered for the relevant Government Trade Test at the end of three terms. As a result our pupils (whose ages range from 17-25) come away with recognizable qualifications that are essential for running successful businesses. Our modern facilities and machinery ensure that everyone who studies at BRDC will have the best education possible and will be well suited to enter a competitive employment environment.
In addition to this skills based training, we also provide English, Maths, Business Studies and Health and Safety lessons for our pupils in order to give them a grounding in more conventional studies. This not only enhances performance in vocational classes, but also aids in general day to day living.
Finally, we believe that it is important that our teaching should be carried out in a Christian atmosphere; one of friendship, encouragement and mutual understanding. Morning prayer therefore offers a chance for our pupils to develop faith, as well as teaching skills such as honesty and respect. |
